Woodsville Interchange traffic gridlock - 16/10/2010
http://app.lta.gov.sg/announce_content.asp?start=ubu74g1c9g2kv0bj9c84qf569j8ecooo20clgff82uixy4ot86
So I was held up onboard SBS bus 154 along PIE (Changi) in a gridlock for 20 - 25 mins for just some 1.6km. The jam started at Toa Payoh stretching all the way to the Woodsville Flyover grade-level road junction. I did noticed that even Toa Payoh Lor 6 ended up badly affected by the congestion as well. It's crazy as 25 mins could mean roughly being able to take Bus 154 from Ngee Ann Poly's campus bus stop to Potong Pasir before this diversion.
Looks like it's simply going to be worst on Monday. Expect massive delays on SBS Svs 5, 8, 13, 23, 26, 31, 59, 64, 65, 66, 90, 107, 125, 133, 142, 147, 151, 151e, 154, 506 & SMRT Svs 853, 857, 966, 985. If Toa Payoh Lor 6 indeed turns out to be congested, SBS Sv 57 & 238 would be dragged into the picture as well.

Singapore Airshow 2010 & supply of rice
Quoted from Lianhe Zaobao 14/01/2010
美国空军A-10雷电II型(Thunderbolt
II)攻击机已确定参展。这是A-10首次在亚洲的航空展亮相。澳洲也派出F-111战斗轰炸机作为退役“告别秀”。A-10和F-111将呈献飞行演出。
Taken from http://www.zaobao.com/sp/sp100114_006.shtml
The previous Airshow had USAF participated by showcasing the bombers B-2 & B-52. I hope to be able to go take a look at the A-10 but the thought of boarding the shuttle bus at Changi Airport coach bay frightens me off (The thought of possible traffic bottleneck as tour coaches and shuttle buses vie for the small coach bay lots).
Now mention about the supply of rice. Prices of rice is going up thanks to the need for the Philippines to import rice after the Typhoon disaster last year that destroyed padi fields. Least it's better than the drought incident that occurred close to 30 years ago that resulted in total shortage of rice from Thailand for 1 harvest.
How lucky is it to be living in Singapore for being rice importers (be it NTUC Fairprice or the private importers) have to store rice inside the government designated warehouses in case of emergency to prevent people from profiteering. If nothing changes, they've to store twice the tonnage of rice they sold for the month in the warehouse.

A new beginning.
Anyway I do hope I would be able to blog onto my thoughts of my own country's land transportation systems, it's future, etc. I do hope to be able to pursue a Masters in land transport system design after my undergraduate degree in future.
Things/ agenda in my mind now: Dubai fiscal, Singapore Airshow 2010, Resorts World Sentosa, upcoming Uni days, improving our public transport system, consumer essential item prices and supply.
